I read here on Bitog that Toyota OEM were like 50% efficiency. I've decided my next OCI will go with Puro Classic L25702 for the Tundra. They are 97.5% efficiency.

I have always used oem Toyota filters in my wifes Rav4. Seem to be good quality at a good price. I buy mine in cases online and get great deals.

That would be correct for canister spin on filters. Nobody really knows what the efficiencies of cartridge filters are, which is aggravating.

It looks exactly like the Champion Labs filter I once used.
It's made in USA the o ring bag says purolator on it

It is funny to me to hear how so many people bash Fram cartridge oil filters for having paper end caps and with the cartridge type people are so willing to use on with NO endcaps! I have to say I do like the fact you can inspect the "build quality" of cartridge type filters and how they are holding up during an OCI.

End caps aside, the problem with Fram spin on filter is it has a lot less filter media compares with Purolator Classic, but it costs more.

Just checked the price at WM, Fram is $3.67 and Purolator Classic is $3.27. Do you like to pay more for Fram ? I don't.

That is surprising because every Champ Labs cartridge filter I ever used on a Toyota was made in Korea.

To be honest, i never knew Japanese cars used cartridge filters . . . Maybe i have not owned enough Japanese cars.

Great post Tboss ! Thanks!

The Toyota one looks best to me from my very unprofessional opinion. The material looks high quality and it seems bonded together properly. The Mann doesn't look half bad, the bonding material color is different, but I bet it would work nicely too.

It seems to me the large end caps by the other guys is simply unnecessary. Perhaps it's cheaper to put those big caps than bond it the way Toyota & Mann does it.

Very interesting. Thanks a lot!

That is because from what I have seen, they are only on certain Toyota and Mazda models, and built after about 2009.

Most Japanese cars take the same filters they took 10 years ago.

I believe there is some logic to removing the end caps. May allow pleats/folds to flex versus stress at the end caps. I am seeing the beginning of media failure at the end caps of P1 filters at 8-9k OCI's. The best feature on cartridge type is you can see the starting and ending quality without any hassles, and saves time draining filters.
