Commute distance.. who has the longest?

You work 7 x 12s and then you are off for 7 days? Do others have this schedule? I would consider an apartment share rather than be home for only 8 hours x 7 days.

I have an uncle who has been commuting ~70 miles between Keuka Lake and Rochester, NY for about 12 years now. We all think he's insane.

The way the job market now or days.... many people have no other choice than to commute long distances for work.

If I leave from the kitchen it's about 60 feet to my home office. If I go there from the living room it's an additional 25 feet or so.

If I happen to be out in the field playing with the dogs it's around 400 feet.

I still have a couple clients that I visit once every couple weeks, one is 32 miles away and the other is 54 miles.

I'm spending more and more time at the winery (I became a minority owner last year). It's 17 miles away, and I find myself there 4-5 days a week for at least a few hours, plus some time on weekends.

We all appreciated the frequency of your used oil analysis back then though!

Work 2 off 2.. work 3 off 2.. work 2 off 3. 7 days for 2 weeks. Sounds more complicated than it is.

Some days can be 10 miles, other days can be 100 miles. Traveling for work can vary depending on caseload. Today was 140 miles due to needing supplies not available locally in addition to normal routine.

I did a regular commute of 50 miles each way for a few years. It was a rural drive without much traffic and once in the city not much more (Lincoln, NE.) Having a great stereo in the car is a must and it helps ALOT if it is a car you enjoy driving. Mine was not a luxury car, but a Honda CRX that was FUN to drive and got 33mpg. I didn't think the cost of the commute was too bad and the length of it was about one CD each way.

I used to commute 180 miles round trip to work back in the early 90s.....drove an 87 Nissan truck with a 5 speed transmission.

I hated getting up at 4 am to get ready for work and coming home so late after a long work day. No time for a personal life. But that's the way I felt.

My wife now commutes anywhere from 4o miles round trip to 200 miles...depending on where she has to go to work. If it's really far, she flies in the company plane.

9 miles one-way. My wife and I work 2 blocks apart in the city, so it works well for us.

Most of the mileage we put on our cars is outside of work commuting - shopping, visiting friends and family. That gets us to about 18k/year total.

I do 60 miles a day of mostly rural 2 lane roads. I don't mind too much as the Neon is pretty quiet under 60mph and gets high 30's mpg at those speeds. So it costs about $7/day in gas which isn't too bad.
I'd like to telecommute a day a week or something like that as I don't really have to be physically be in the office often at all.

About 90 miles for me. XM radio sure has helped and of course, extended OCI's with Mobil 1 Extended Performance has kept me from changing the oil once a month and that is directly because of this website!!!! Before BITOG, I was a petty soul fully believing in the 3K oil changes....but....I've seen the LIGHT!!!!!

The first 45 minutes of my commutes are on me , after that I am on the clock. I drive all over fixing 6-9 customers a day. Company van garaged at home. A few jobs prior, I had a 150 mile round trip daily in my own car.

I have 1.2 million mail route miles under my belt in almost

28 years i think i am getting sick of driving.
