I don't know I'd go that far. Snake oil might actually do some good in a crankcase.

Dude, the poster has already tried RT6, Seafoam, and MMO. MMO is about as good as any solvent based cleaner out there. So far he's gotten no positive results (and in fact thinks the ticking is even worse). The chances that your favorite magic elixir is going to do anything good is vanishingly small.

Are we sure it's the valves? I realize it's a common issue on these Volvos but let's pretend it's something like an exhaust leak that stops once the various exhaust components begin heating up.

Try this little experiment:

Take two Ford carboned-up IAC motors. Fill one with Seafoam or MMO. Take the other, and fill it full of AC Delco combustion chamber cleaner.

Let it sit for a few minutes. Slosh it around. Let it sit again.

Then dump them both out.

Which one is clean?

It sure isn't the one with MMO or Seafoam in it.

There are a lot of "better" solvent-based cleaners out there. B12 Chemtool is another that is regarded as pretty "harsh". I have no experience with it myself, but it is supposed to be in-line with the AC Delco stuff in terms of its cleaning ability.

MMO and Seafoam are both MILD cleaners. MMO is advertised as such.

I have no experience with Kreen, but if it is somewhere between the AC Delco stuff and MMO/Seafoam, than it wouldn't be hard to imagine it being a better cleaner.
