I don’t really need tires anytime soon but it seems like I am always browsing to see what’s available. Stumbled upon these today on DT’s website.

Nokian Encompass AW02 coming in January 2025. For a 225/65R17, pricing is $126/tire compared to $172/tire for the DT-exclusive Encompass AW01 that is currently available.

I'm surprised they went directional on the AW02! I thought they would've just made it more like the WRG4 (the outgoing AW01 is based on the old WRG3).

I'd choose the Nordman Solstice 4 over the AW02. Unless the price is too close to the new WRG5.

Nordman's are phenomenal value and I can confirm the Solstice 4s are the WRG4s. Had multiple iteration of the WRGs since the 2, but these Nordman's are just as good. I got mine at a major tire retailer in the Boston area at a very reasonable price with installation and hazard coverage. Straight from their new factory in Tennessee.

Agreed that they are a great value. I put over 25,000 miles on a set of the original Nordman Solstice (same as WRG3) on a 2011 Town and Country and they were great. I traded that van in back in June and the tires were still at 6/32.

I love Nokian however if they get chewed up in any way it’s like driving a bro dozer or tractor down the road with road noise. Glad the other makers have come up with similar all weather tires especially Michelin.

Tried AW01's on the FWD Matrix this year for the winter. Yes, I know these are not a dedicated TPMSF SNOW tire, but I was very impressed with the performance in the snow and ice. We have the Bizzak WS90 on the Corolla, so the standard is pretty high. I was going to run the AW01 year-round due to the fact that it's in all season tire, but I decided to remove them and just keep them for the winters. Hopefully the AW02 tires are just as good!
