With every day being at or near 100F (the new normal for summer in the central valley), I have started running the heater during the last couple miles before getting home, and then running an extra desk fan toward the front grille for 5 minutes after shutting down. Maybe not necessary, but most modern engine temperature gauges are little more than dummy lights, having a wide spread of temperatures where the gauge indicates "normal." Needless to say I don't bother with the fan during the cooler months, only during hot summer days... also we are surrounded by blacktop, a true heat sink island.
