Cold Weather And EV's

Yes, but would you win a 1/4 mile race?

See how pointless that sounds? Im not driving a hotshot truck. You're not drag racing your semi or whatever. EVs work amazing for me, and some others, but poorly for you and others who drive for a living.

Same as trucks are stupid for some people and corvettes are stupid for others.

I'd love to own a performance EV. There is absolutely no question, the short term performance (which is what we use on the local streets) is unbeatable. AND, I absolutely love the instant response. The performance advantages of a well designed EV are multi faceted and EPIC.

But my point remains, real work requires liquid fuels. Flying an airliner with batteries or pushing a container ship, is an exercise in futility.

Everything's is a trade off.

No BEV will likely ever match either my midsized or half ton trucks towing range.

No ICE vehicle will ever fill itself from my wall overnight.

I would argue BEV can do real work, they easily scoot up mountains, and or slam you into the seat.
They simply cant sustain the same level of output for the same amount of time as a liquid fueled vehicle.

I really used to view EV's as short term performance, but the new stuff really isn't losing steam, and actually is trapping high in the 1/4 mile vs. its ET, for an AWD vehicle.

Well said. It definitely has to do with battery efficiency. They do well with the power they have, but add weight especially with towing and the reserve depletes quick. I love electric for commuting.
