Excerpted from Revealed: Secret Tricks to Sell Junk Food to Children (if you want to get it in context) we get the following: "...my father pried the cylinder head off an old Studebaker and poured a generous amount of Coke down each cylinder. Next morning he put the head back and fired the Stude up--the car hadn't been run for more than twenty years and prior to the Coke the engine had been completely seized!"

LOL! I'm looking forward to a guinea pig whose willing to try the same trick on their engine and then report back he result, in a scientific manner....

Lemme seeeee....: if it's coming from da internet its gotta be true, right? Afterall, isn't coke "da real thing"???

Sounds plausible, I've heard of soaking rusty metal in coke to de-rust it. Throw a piece of rusty nail in some regular coke for few days and see what happens.

A liberal dose of Coke to free up stuck rings is a farm type remedy that has been passed down thru the generations.

If you ever get into a betting situation involving this method, either pick the Coke or stay out of it as odds are the guy in the "Oshkosh-by-Gosh" coveralls is going to empty your pockets!

There are obviously better products suited for this task, but the Coke does work, as something in the Coca-Cola syrup will start softening up the corrosion seizing the piston, rings & cylinder walls.

Well, there is also Phosphoric and/or Citric acid in Coca Cola, too. As a matter of fact, Coca Cola is one of the most acidic sodas, with a pH of 2.5.
