Sad, but it certainly seems that way.

Oz gun buyback was a classic case.

Trade in a Krico semi auto .22 ($350 retail), and you got $200 for it being used.

Trade in an SLR L1A1, which was illegal to possess in the first place, and the "reward" was $7,500.

Yeah, the same people who complain that we bail out the dumb !@#$ in the first place will complain again because we are taking away their right to shoot themselves in the feet.

Freedom is leaving me be. I don't want your forced "help".

That's all well and good when your actions affect no one but yourself. When they affect everyone, it's a little more complicated. There has to be a compromise, and no matter what it is, someone's going to be mad. Can't talk about freedom without acknowledging that as well.

That's the whole point of a gun buyback: to reduce the supply of illegal firearm that can do massive damage, not the classic collector items.

I don't think people would use an antique revolver to rob a gas station if an AK47 is easily available.

I happened accross a site looking up Aussie's GC laws, and I must say, your anti-gun whacko's over there are almost far worse than ours.

I'll take an FAL :) They're not that expensive over here, and are legal to own.

AN FAL is considered a collectors item by most :)

I believe a revolver, antique or not, would be much preferable to a criminal. An AK47 cannot be easily hidden in a pocket prior to robbing a gas station. This is why the vast majority of criminals choose handguns instead of bulky long guns.
