After a few years with minimal maintenance.

This is first-gen Ventureshield film. I'm pretty sure the owner did very minimal maintenance to it-- occasional wash and wax, maybe some occasional plexus (which is a big no-no).

So, if you have a clear bra w/ older generation material on a light colored car, you better be cleaning it regularly (with ppf specific cleaners) and sealing it or else you'll have this yellowish mess!

I've seen this "yellowish mess" even on clear bras installed on new cars that have had impeccable maintenance. With plastic products, it's just a matter of time in my opinion.

Hello, The only reason I'm posting is that yesterday I saw my first clear bra-I swear. It was on a VW Jetta or Golf. The car was white and it appeared that there was a coating of fine road dirt on it. It wasn't yellow at all. I didn't have the opportunity to touch it as I was driving. I thought it was a good idea. Can you peel them off after a while? Kira

The yellowing is a result of airborne contaminants. Using a special film cleaner periodically and applying the sealant religiously (at least monthly) will generally keep the film in great condition for a very long time.

Yellowinsh mess on new clear bras is generally caused by car owners using products that contain petroleum distillates, like kerosene or naptha (contained in most synthetic paint waxes). These product dry out the film, open the pores and turn it into a dirt sponge.

A QUALITY film (beware of the cheap ones), with proper car (mainly the lack of abuse), will look great for years.

It's UV damage to plastic. It happens to headlights as well. Show me old plastic without UV damage. And I don't even live in a sunny area.

There is a clear coat on the film, similar to one for paint.
