Cleaning the Deere!

I've discovered a new, to me, way of cleaning up my JD 345 with the liquid cooled 20HP Kawasaki. Its really dusty here in Texas and trying to hose it off makes a big fat mess and wastes water.

I've started using an electric leaf blower!!!! It blows off all the dust & chafe very easily. More importantly, directed down into the the top-of-the-engine mounted radiator, the blower effectively cleans the radiator core of dust and tiny bits that get past the chafe screens.

Its also great for blasting out the grass, sticks and junk that get trapped under the safety covers on the mower deck.

I'd make sure to wear a dust mask and some eye protection when doing this 'dirty job!'

I use to wash mine off every time. This only caused the electrical switches and the pulleys to go bad. I use compressed air now.

I use compressed air to clean my JD 345 as well.

I use the leaf blower to clean my mower. No sense in wasting water on a tool.

The leaf blower trick rocks. It's what I do on my old STX38. Dust still accumulates, but not the clumps of grass and other junk!

I use a leaf blower too, but the way I see it water is cheaper than gas.

Yep, I use my old homelite blower on the Cub Cadet after every mowing. My Cub 2544 collects a ton of [censored] on top of the deck, on the screens, etc. A quick shot with the blower and she's all clean.

Most debris is dry and loose, so 80psi air removes most of it.
