Hello all,

I have a 2007 VW Jetta and it has a leatherette for the seats. I'm not even quite sure what that is to be honest. I was wondering what people use to clean it or condition it. Does it even need to be conditioned?

Also, around my door frames there is chrome trim. It's looking a little dull. What is a good product to bring that back to life? Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Marc

Leatherette is basically vinyl/plastic, so treat it with the same stuff as all other plastics in the car - 303 Aerospace Protectant works well.

Not sure about the chrome stuff... is it actual chrome, or just chrome-colored plastic?

Thanks for the reply. Can you get 303 Aerospace Protectant at auto parts stores?

I'm not sure if it is chrome, but I don't believe it is plastic.

For the fake leather use Woolite cut 6 to 1 with water and a good scrub brush. It will be immaculate after some elbow grease.

Automotive leather: Use whatever protectant strikes your fancy. TW or Armor-all leather spray should be fine.

Chrome trim: Make sure its actually metal and not metalized plastic (which is pretty common). Real chrome is going by the wayside due to the chrome plating process being an enviromental catastrophe. For metalized plastic, a light wipe down with lemon pledge will make it glorious.

If its real metal, use metal polish! I like eagle 1 nanopolish which you can get from Advanced Auto parts.
