Cleaning an Amsoil EaAU filter?

From the website data sheet:Cleanable
AMSOIL EaAU Filters are cleanable and long lasting.
AMSOIL recommends cleaning the EaAU Filter when
designated by the restriction gauge if the vehicle is so
equipped, or according to operating conditions. If the
EaAU Filter is used in extremely dusty environments or
in a performance vehicle, more frequent cleanings may
be required. Cleaning AMSOIL EaAU Filters requires
no oiling or soap and water, simply clean with lowpressure
shop air or vacuum. AMSOIL recommends
changing EaAU Filters every four years.

Ah, thanks!! That is easy, I'll probably be getting one of those. Also on a sidenote, I e-mailed Amsoil about the filters yesterday about how effective they are since there is no numbers mentioned in the description. Here is what they said:

I am looking at your EaAu filters for my JLT II Cold Air Intake system for my 2006 Mustang GT. I believe I would need a 4090 filter. Anyway, I have 2 questions. 1) I was wondering how effective at filtering dirt the EaAu filter was verses a standard stock paper panel filter. 2) How much more air flow could I expect over the standard S&B filter on the JLT II? If it is substantial, I may need to retune the engine. Thanks for your time!! Steve

Steve,

Thank you for contacting AMSOIL with your concerns.

In response to your inquiry, the EaAU filters filter about 4-5 times more than the cellulose filters, and about 50 times more than the wetted gauze filters. EaAU filters flow about the same amount compared to a similar size S&B filter, so no retuning should be necessary if the filters are similar in size.

Thanks again for the opportunity to respond to your concerns. As always, please feel free to contact us again if we can be of further assistance.

Sincerely,

Yeah I just set my air compressor on like 8-10 lbs....and blow it out from the inside out. Then I take the shop vac and get after it with the little nozzle in between all the pleats. And then I have to reinstall it like real quick because the urge to wash it in a bucket of soapy water and oil it is hard to deny

Yeah, the Amsoil filters are a cellulose (paper) based filter that is made by Donaldson. So you should only use air pressure or vacuum to clean it. Never use water or soap, it will weaken the paper fibers.
