Clean dishwasher or leave it alone

clean the filter and run dishwasher cleaner from the grocery store on the hottest longest run the dishwasher has. no more no less.

Thank you for your advice. I will leave it be. The reason why I asked was I repaired the wheels for the upper rack and the guides. They definitely have hard water. I will wait until this one croaks then send her the videos on how to do it.

You could recommend a tech come in to "service" the dishwasher too. That solves the problem for a bit of money.

The only thing is right now it is running fine. Why call a service technician? They follow the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" method instead of an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I repaired the wheels and guides because they let it get so bad practically all the wheels were broken and it just barely stayed up and couldn't be removed. If they would have fixed the wheels sooner the guides would not have needed the guides.

Frankly, it was ridiculous trying to get stuff in and out of the top rack.

is there a owner's manual to look at first??,there you may read and go over the cleaning instructions together with the owner of the machine and clean/service filters etc expressing concerns when they are right there, releaving you of some possible repercussions if something goes wrong.

What does the owners manual say about the filter? If it’s removable, clean it out. If not then review the manual.

We do a run with white vinegar in the dishwasher and washing machine now and again. TSP in the dishwasher for a run may be worthwhile too if it has been really neglected.
