Classic cars of the Brady Bunch

I like the yellow 69 Camaro Z-28. Not sure who the sponsor was but there were some Chevrolets in their too. That convertible really sags in the rear for looking so new. The 56 Chevy convertible would need a lot of work to look great again. Times were simple back in those days.

If you like the cars that were showcased on a lot of these 60's and 70's TV shows, one of the best was, "Mannix". (1967 to 1975). They were also sponsored by Chrysler. And Mannix drove, (and wrecked), some of the best.

440 Barracuda convertibles. 340 Dodge Darts. 440 Dodge Charger R/T's. Even a custom Olds Toronado built by George Barris. This was long before all of the computerized special effects we have today.

In an interview with Johnny Carson, Mike Connors, (who played Mannix), said Desilu Productions actually agreed to lower their advertising fees with Chrysler, in order to offset the costs of the many cars they wrecked on the show.

Conners said he literally lost count of the amount of cars they destroyed on the show in the 8 seasons they filmed the series. Here are a few of them.

Love the 60s rides, real engines, nice designs and cars had some class,,,no freaking suv soscer mom rides....Im old guys, I was 18 summer of 64.............we had great cars then, with real horsepower and styling,,,todays cars,,,no so much anymore...imho

Detective Columbo (Peter Falk) had the coolest uncool car in all of TV land, a '60s Peugeot cabriolet.

The Partridge Family actually chose a vehicle that could fit all the kids at the same time vs whatever convertible Mike Brady had. I hated details like this-- Dr. Huxtable bought his milk by the quart despite having a huge family.

In older shows-- Lucy, Leave it to Beaver-- they pulled the windshield glass to cut down on reflections.

This popped up in my YouTube suggestions last night and I'm embarrassed to admit I watched it...lol

Mr Brady was in a high income bracket, having a maid is the verifier. In 1972 the minimum wage was $2.05 / hr.
2k for a car was a big nut back then.

Looks like I opened up something with my post. Let’s just say that we do pretty decent for ourselves with 1.5 incomes, 1 kid, and no maid, but I still plan on just keeping my 21 year old car.

Thanks to the Dukes of Hazard's and the FF movie franchise, many desirable Mopars have been destroyed. The cost of a '68-69 Charger is a testament to this fact.
