Chevron supreme, Mobil super 5000, pennzoil dino all in a 5W30 flavor what's best for a small high revving 4 cylinder regularly seeing steep mountain roads. May it add in hot Las Vegas weather. What is best for my app. Running cs right now with a nappa platinum filter engine is smooth as silk

Thats an expensive filter if your just using dino OCIs unless you are using it for more than 1 OCI. What will your OCI be? What kind of car/engine? If its a shorter OCI, synthetic will probably not benefit you.

Use which ever one is cheapest as they all meet the same specs. Some will say PYB due to high moly, others will say not because higher moly levels can leave deposits. Some will say use MS5k based of 2010FX4 UOAs from his truck going 10K on MS5k while others would say not to use it as it uses Titanium instead of moly. CS is the cheapest oil out of the bunch but is a good dino that is ofter over looked.

I would use the MS5K myself over any of the others you mentioned.

If I had to choose value for the dollar would be PYB, but I would go with a QSUD and or Pennzoil Platinum due to the driving conditions you mention.

MS5k out of the bunch (I don't think you can make a poor choice out of those lubes). In a high revving 4 banger with heat and hills I would be using PP/M1/Edge/Synpower/NapaSyn.

3k oci with a 2006 sonata 2.4. Yes i will be darining amd re using the filter it should be good for 10k

The Mobil because its probably the best bang for buck. It is almost $3 cheaper than the PYB for 5 qt jug in my local Walmart. However, I think any of the three would do fine.

I like all three. Cheapest on a daily basis is MS5K unless you get the special at O'Reilly's then it would be CS. PYB is great but more expensive.

If re-using a filter for another OCI, I never thought it necessary to remove it and drain it? Wouldn't that potentially open up doors for leaks if the gasket is already sealing just fine? [Cartridge or spin-on] I wouldn't think that small amount of oil would skew results too much, unless we're talking certain diesel engine oil filters which can hold much more than your average consumer cars. Someone correct me if I'm not correct in my thinking.

This is my first time using a synthetic filter, from what i understand the napa platinum is good for 10k?
I was going to ask if you guys actually remove the filter or just drain the oil pab and refill?

I believe I'd pick the PYB but it wouldn't be an easy choice (nor would it likely make a bit of difference) but hey this is BITOG!

For a conventional oil operating at high speed in desert heat: use a 10w30. Any of the brands being considered is OK, but the 10w30 grade will give better protection against thermal breakdown.
