Civic bearly starting?

Its weird, about once a week or so, the car cranks and cranks and cranks and then finally bearly starts putting until i can give it gas to keep it running. After the hard start it runs great.

Can anyone help me find the problem?

I recently changed spark plugs, wires, and dist. cap. and that didn't help.

Could be dirty injectors or low fuel pressure, even leaky injectors, thats my guess. Also could be a 100 other things.

The main relay controls the fuel pump during startup. It is a high failure item on older Hondas that will tend to get worse with age and hotter weather. What year civic and how many miles? Hope this helps.

If giving it gas is required to keep it running, look at the idle air control valve and/or the "idle tracking switch".

Hey, my car is a 97 dx with 57k on it. Is my year the same as the ones with the main relay problems?
