Lol , I know of at least two Honda dealers around us that use flush machines. WE use a flush machine on almost every Honda we do a trans flush on. Not ONE return problem yet. It all depends on what machine you are using.
If it uses the internal pump to do the fluid exchange, then all your machine is doing is metering in fresh fluid in the same amount old fluid is pumping out using the cooler return line ( which is what we use ). Over 95% fresh fluid in one go. My own Civic in my signature was flushed in the same method and the transmission shifts more like a DSG than an auto, fast/sure/accurate.
As far as fluids go, Maxlife has been our fluid of choice on Hondas at the shop, to great effect as well. I have had the same experience. Doing just one drain and fill on my Acura ( trans had z1 which was in use for about 10k miles ) , my shift quality has improved immensely. Especially low speed part throttle lock up. Transmission is very very responsive.
It all depends on what you want your fluid to do, if you want fast quick shifts which wear less on the trans use Maxlife, if you prefer smoother softer more comfy shifts DW-1 might be the way to go. Of course Maxlife at 15.99/gal is less expensive than DW-1 as well.
