I love the stuff! but getting hard to find i have two old Fords that i run it in(also my ATVs) the only place i have it available is TSC and my JD dealer, Anybody know how good the traveler(sp?) or Mystic(sp?) 15w40 CI-4 oils are? anyone know of OR have VOAs or UOAs i can look at,i know it'll have a boosted ad pack being CI vs CJ but still dunno how it would stack up.

search gave me nothing really....

Mystic makes good stuff. Traveller is the house brand of TSC. Rural King has a similar product.

You'll be fine using any of them.

Here's a question that's a little off-topic, but if I remove my DPF, is there any need to avoid CI-4 oils in 2007+ diesel trucks?

We use Service Pro 15w40 that is a CI-4 Plus oil in all our farm equipment. We get great oil analysis back with it. The Auto Value near where we live sells it. I see you're on the east side of MI. Rowley's Wholesale, out of Bay City, is where we get most of what we use. They deliver right to us.

Any Chevron Distributor. We have 3 in town and they all carry it. You have to buy it by the case which is 6 gallons...

I thought EGR was another area that benefits greatly from the CJ4 oils as well as the DPF although I am speaking mainly from experience with the Ford trucks.

EGR should be handled just fine with CI4+ oils. CJ4 has a bit more soot dispersancy on the average, but CI4+ has better acid neutralization viz. higher TBNs.
Now if you disconnect/block the EGR, one can use numerous excellent CH4 oils, i.e. John Deere +50 0W40, or what I use in my Unimog*...
*designed for European built engines only like MB, MAN etc.

Amsoil still has their CI4 oil.

But if you are running ULSD, the new CJ4 oils are supposed to be better.
