I had that engine in my '01 LHS and it was my favorite engine I ever had looking back. Never needed a repair, used slightly less than 1qt between 5K OCI, power for days, simple as can be plug changes, and pretty fuel efficient for having 253 HP too. I will be looking for another LHS/300M once the Civic is GONE.

I love the 300M... I see those 300M special editions periodically, the car is absolutely gorgeous looking. I always wanted one, and if it came in manual, I probably would have gotten one. They do have a rock solid powertrain though, as is.

Yep, I had a 300M, and it was a great car around a great engine. I shouldn't have gotten rid of it.

Easy plugs are a thing of the past, now you have to remove the intake manifold to get to the back 3 plugs. I've had a different experience with oil consumption (as many 3.5 owners do), I'm at about 1qt every 1k miles (trying ML to see if it'll do the trick). The engine definitely seems great and receives much praise, for 250HP it is fairly efficient, not compared to today's V6's but it is fairly efficient none the less. My running MPG is 21.9 and my best was a whopping 31.4 (rated at 27 highway). The only "repair" I've needed on it was a new cam position sensor which I just replaced a couple weeks ago oddly enough.
