Choosing Dex-Cool?

So my 2011 F150 is basically spec'd for Dex-Cool (WSS-M97B44-C) and its due for a rad drain this spring. I did the 5 years on factory fill and now I'm doing a radiator drain and refill every other year. Looking at the Zerex dexcool it states the "meets/exceeds" so technically it isnt a licensed product... although I don't know how much that matters given that its a quality brand on a widely used formula. I can get Motorcraft Specialty Orange for just about the same price, though. Would that be ANY benefit?

The only benefit is you can get it off the shelf anywhere. That is one of the reasons I run it in my VW.

I would use the Zerex without a second thought....I'd even use Prestone's version Dexcool although I like the Zerex better.

Pretty much any one will work....

Unless using the Motorcraft gives you the warm fuzzies, I'd have no problem using Zerex. In fact I'd use pretty much any DexCool labeled AF concentrate. Last Dex I used on a GM vehicle was Napa Labeled DexCool Orange, which is really Peak Brand DexCool. It was the lowest price Dex I could find at the time.

Zerex Brand AFs have a good name and reputation.

Starting right around 2011. Wanted one AF for all their vehicles, chose Dex but did not back spec.

Interesting. I've used Zerex Yellow without a second thought in my last couple of FoMoCo vehicles(or I should say Lincolns) but they've all been pre-2011.

The only newer one I have access to is my dad's 2015 MKS, but as it's still under warranty with included service I don't touch it. Since it sits in the garage most of the time and I've only actually driven it a handful of times, I've not done anything more than pop the hood once and pull the dipstick.
