Choosing between A01 and 57356

Need some assistance in deciding between which filter to use.

I want to stick with one and keep going forward.

My decision is down to either the Honda A01 or a Wix 57356. I spoke with Wix and confirmed that the 57356 does indeed have a silicone ADBV. Also like the thought that I can walk into a NAPA and get a filter.

Your opinion?

I normally get the A01's on eBay in a 6-pack putting each filter at about $6.66.

Napa Gold 7536 at the store is $6.29. Very close in price.

I've used the Wix 57356 countless times, never an issue. I have never used the A01 myself but in my case for the price I pay at Napa, I would have no problem recommending the Wix from them.

That being said I have been using PureONE's for the last year or so, I buy them for a good price when I am state-side.

I think I'd try those Napa Golds and see how you like them. Plus you can buy them individually instead of by the six pack. Only buy beer in six packs.

The Napa's are well liked on here. I'd give them a whirl.

You can even check out their Air and Cabin filters also. Probably much less than the Honda filters for the same or better quality imo.

Never ran an A01, but the new 57356 runs flawlessly on the Honda - the bluefram A02 I wouldnt put on a shelf near the car never mind ON it.

Great news! I definitely think I will go with the 57356.

My main goal is to be able to go to the store and pickup a filter and oil without pre-ordering a six pack and waiting on this or that. Don't want to tie up my $$$ in product either.

Also, I want to just use the MM and do 6-7+ OCIs.

I think I will check into the NAPA Gold/Wix Air and cabin filters too.

Is the Bosch 3323 in the running? That's the one I chose for the first two OC on the new van. $6.99 at Autozone and they almost always pair it with at least one syn oil change special every month.

No I didn't consider the Bosch filter. Maybe in the future but not this time.


Changed the oil today, used Mobil 1 0W-20 and the NG 7536. No odd noises, no leaks, no "butt-dyno" effects. Runs just as it should.

So... super dumb question here, but anyone have any clue why the NG 7356 and Wix 57356 is white? I always thought the black NG and Wix looked cool. I know this has no effect on filtration and I shouldn't really care but JW if anyone had a clue.

Can't say why it's white, but it is a new-ish application that replaces the black 5/1348 that was previously spec'd by Wix/Napa. They changed the base plate geometry. Maybe they wanted some distinction between old and newer applications.

Just curious how you narrowed your choices to these two filters? Not wrong but there are other equally good silicone adbv filter options imo. The Bosch Prem 3323 mentioned above is one but it's basically a Pure One PL14610 which can be readily obtained at AAP using P20 online code order and store pick up for ~$4.80 everyday, less if purchased in bulk with a higher value code. Used lots of them on Hondas with good results. Just something to consider.

That said, I have a 7356 in my stash obtained on a local Napa filter sale.

The Prem is comparable to a Puro Classic with silicone ADBV where as the DistancePlus is comparable to the PureOne?

Here's my decision making process. The A01 looked good and was an OEM filter, so I figured it is a decent model to go with. Not a big fan of the A02's construction. The WIX looked good with silicone ABDV, coil spring, and thread end bypass valve. Also liked that it is more efficient.

Maybe I'm worried for no reason?

I know that it could be an isolated case.

The pur-O-leaker ddi not run well on the FIT but your accord is another ballgame.
I would avoid running an ultra high efficiency filter.

Actually the Bosch Premium 3323 is a vitual clone of the Pure One PL14610 without the textured can. Generally more readily available at less cost. Yes the BD+ has a silicone adbv too, but with ~2x the rated holding capacity of the P1/BDP. But regular price they are too expensive unless used for ~12-15k oci's. Even then, there are better values like the Ultra 7317. But here's a BD+ run 13.5k over two oci's, but I purchased it for BD+ 3323 13.5k mi.

As for seeing a P1 anecdote failure, search enough and your liable to find a few from most any brand posted here. Here's a PL14610 I ran 7800 miles and it's representative of others I have posted of this application.

Yes there are lots of silicone adbv choices in this application as it's very popular. Again though, nothing wrong with your choice, just realize there are other acceptable choices too imo. I did notice that my local Napa has the 7356 now listed for $7.50, at that price I would look elsewhere or a Napa sale. Just me.

Re-evaluating my needs:

I liked (and still do) the Honda A01 filter, but wanted a local option to not require multi-filter purchases, keep around the same price point, and have as good or better filtration.

I will have to see the price of some of the 14610's when I go shopping next, may try one.

Honestly I don't think it's that critical. Good brand name, decent price, good filtration numbers, and easy availability is what you want right? Go with the Wix and don't look back if you don't want to buy the A01 in bulk.
