Sold my 02 Honda CRV. Now I have an 04 Chevy Trailblazer with the 4.2L I6. Trailblazer has 7 quart sump. It has the dummy light for the GM oil life monitor. I've heard that it takes a looong time for the light to come on. What OCI would you use if you used conventional/synthetic 5w-30 with mostly city driving?

Please note: I'm a recovering 2K-3K mile oil changer, so don't throw 15K at me, I won't be able to handle that. I have enough stress in my life.

BTW. I love the Trailblazer, but selling it the moment my company stops paying for the gas. You fellow Trailblazer owners know what I'm talking about.

My city commute is 5.5 miles each way. Fuel dilution problems with 7500/1yr OCI? It does get on the highway every now and then. Thanks

I have a 06 Trailblazer with the same engine. With that big sump, it is very easy on oil.

I do a 5K/6 month OCI with conventional dino. A 7.5K once a year with synthetic, I would see no problems with.

The filter is accessed through a cover plate on the bottom. It is slightly offset from the cover opening and can be a bit of a pain when removing but still relatively easy.

I get 15 City and 21 HWY for MPG.

Pennzoil Platinum or Quaker State synthetic once a year (7.5K).

I ran Mobil 1 5W-30 for almost 12,000 miles and the UOA came out just fine. I'm sure the report is on this forum somewhere.

I have the GMC version, an Envoy. 5w30 Schaeffers 7000, Baldwin filters, and a 7k OCI. You are very fortunate to get that kind of fuel mileage. Best I've ever seen during steady highway at 65, was 17mpg. Around town, 13 consistantly. Great vehicle, lousy fuel economy/management. The V-8 does better.

That doesn't seem fair beanoil. I get about 16mpg city and 19-20mpg hwy. I do make a concerted effort to lay off the accelerator. It's hard though since it has so much power compared to my previous 4 cylinders.

I do like the PP ideas. I will probably go with either PP or Amsoil again. I am also going to try for 7.5K OCI's. That will take me all year. Guess I need to pick up a good filter that can also last all year.

I appreciate the recommendations.

I do not know if this pours salt in your wounds but mine is also a EXT (last year made) and a 4x4.

I have read that MPG can be hit or miss and I am one of the more luckier ones.
