Curious on everyone's thoughts. I've seen cars like the Acadia and its sister (the Traverse? Am I thinking correctly?) have decent reliability according to some sources. What are your thoughts? Is 2.5L turbo and the transmission solid on these cars? A local dealer has a lifetime powertrain warranty and the requirements for that are tolerable from what I read. So just curious as there are decent discounts on them right now.

I bought an old 05 Yukon XL that now has 227K on its 5.3 and it still run great. We have 6 people in our family and it was that or a mini-van. No vans were available at the time. I gave 3k for this rusty hulk but it has surprised us with reliability. It is getting 18 on the road and 15 mpg in town. I am sure something is getting ready to break but its cheaper to fix than a payment on a new one.

I am a GM guy (family of course) but I would tell you to not waste your money. Those 3 row ones are junk- they could give Jeep more than a run for their money. Engine issues, software nightmares, even leaks are issues with them. Even my local CHEVOROLET dealership was stopped ordering them due to the issues they have now. They joke that they have almost as many in the shop as there is on the lot.
While there are still some issues with the other parts of the lineup, nothing compares to those junkers…..

Our Toyota had a "lifetime" warranty. Came in for one of my last "free" oil changes and without looking service writer said I was "due" for both air filters and a alignment for $250. Told them I checked both and don't need an alignment, so no thanks. He immediately said it would void my lifetime warranty. Another customer overheard our conversation and told me at the coffee machine he showed up for a service and was now paying for a brake fluid flush and another alignment - had one a couple times ago.

No such thing as a free lunch. If you want extended warranty - buy one from the OEM and be done.

i'll buy (almost)`anything at the right price.

for OP, how long do you plan to own the car? are you willing to very conservative (short) OCIs if you're going to own the car long-term. your budget?

etc.

GM's 3-rows aren't automatically better or worse than their competitors.....too many variables, too little information about your situation.

or just get a Highlander, lmao.

+1000%

Self-insure or OEM extended warranty. never count on anything else. In my <opinion> ..... cuz I am a distrustful MoFo, cuz I know the poopie that companies like to pull cuz I've seen it from the other side, lmao.

Toyota Sienna or a full size van. Every other three row whatever can go pound sand.

I'll take a Durango with the 6.4 please 🚀, you can keep your Sienna, it just gives me more stuff on the road to pass.

Apparently the 2026 6.4 Durango's will be sold at < $50k, with the smaller 5.7 somewhere around mid 45's. That's one heck of a deal.

+1. 3.6 with the 8th is a proven and reliable powertrain.

if OP wants to look at the 3.6, he can get a Durango in the mid-40s with current incentives

That's a lot of car, even with Dodge/Stellantis reliability reputation as long as some money gets saved as a rainy day repair fund

Forget the Dealer warranty. Buy a genuine GM extended warranty. Note-you do not have to buy this at point of sale. Many dealers online offer very competitive prices on them.

I would not trust a dealer to deal with you in good faith on a "Dealer Warranty".
