Hello anyone and everyone! Thanks in advance for any responses.
To the matter at hand....

The vehicle is a chevy colorado with the I5 motor. I obtained this truck with roughly 135k miles on it and have been using it to deliver pizzas. That typically consists of 80-120 miles of city, stop-and-go driving five or six days per week. Along with that, I drive another probably 50 miles around town, and probably a solid 200 miles on the highway every week. All this delivering and a good portion of the city driving are along the beach, where the salt air is a-plenty. I'm about to cross the 150k mark.

I change the oil every 2500-3000 miles with Castrol GTX conventional. It always smells like fuel, but it's not enough to separate when I leave the old oil sit. The choice of filter varies. Per oil change it normally wouldn't lose more than a quart, if that. It takes 6 quarts. So, normally I'd get 5.5 or 6 quarts out. Enough for me to say 'it's not using any oil.' However, a few OCIs ago, the manifold cat broke open, so the exhaust is wide open right where the exhaust runners actually collect. After this, I started getting only about 4 quarts when I changed the oil.

I'm thinking of switching to some sort of high mileage oil since it has started this because I might extend the OCI. I won't be delivering pizzas much longer. My issue is that I haven't seen a high mileage oil with the gm6094m, but being that it's a cold-flow standard, I'm not too concerned. Very nice, warm weather. What might be your plan of action? Keepin' up what I'm doing? Or going to high mileage oil? Or have I just not been reading the oil bottles closely enough? Advice rocks haha. Again, thank you.

This engine needs a complete Kreen cleaning, 16 ounces in the gas and oil.

Then use the thinnest oil it can without excessive consumption.

You really should try and get the exhaust closed back up. The oil consumption could be related.

gas four stroke motors need exhaust back pressure and if not related to oil consumption which it most likely is is not good at all for your engine. You can stick weld cast metal with the appropriate rod so you could get it repaired instead of replaced if replacing is not in your budget. I think your OCI is fine and oil is too. im not a castrol fan but i dont think its a bad choice. You need to fix the exhaust and get a used oil analysis done on a fresh oil change to really make an educated decision.

I just saw the word cat after manifold. Thats a different story. If you sealed that up it would be fine for back pressure but it could be letting the computer give the wrong fuel amount so that could be the reason you smell fuel. You need to hit the phone and check your budget after that.

That's the bottom edge of the manifold cat having completely separated from the rest of the header. Same problem as mine.

The oil has always had a fuel smell, and when I change it, I normally get small bubbles. Not foam or anything, but small dark bubbles that form when the oil falls into the drain pain and don't burst. That's also always been the case.
