I ran an 80 Chevy 305 that burned a qt every 1000 and GM wouldn't fix it so I changed oil every 3000 miles. When I bought oil for changes I bought 2 extra qts and at 300000 miles it was still clean. Truck was finished but motor was still going and oil usage never changed. We are talking 1981 oils.
