I remember watching the mechanic do the shocks on dad's Astro. I don't recall him even attempting a wrench, I think he just cut off them off. [Of course, this was coastal Maine, different enviroment.]
I keep a couple pieces of black pipe around, slip over ratchets or breaker bars. They can be nice to use sometimes, instead of brute force on a nut only to have it snap and then smash your knuckles into something, you can ease into it and have better control.
Don't overestimate the usefulness of a deadblow hammer though. Few whacks on a wrench can get the job done in space limited areas, like brake caliper bolts.
