I just checked the new data sheets, and they upped the zinc/phosphorous over SM/GF-4 limits! Zinc is 910 ppm, and the 30 weights are 12 cst at 100C.

It looks like some oil manufacturers truly are tailoring their high mileage oils for older vehicles and older engine designs with a touch higher zinc levels. It's not marketing fluff IMO.

Once my Maxlife stash is used up, I'll stock up on Chevron HM for my 94 Corolla.

Drew, I agree 100% - oil manufacturers aren't really paying attention to SM/SN additive levels for High Mileage oils, they are blending for performance and protection.

This oil looks realy, really stout - maybe the stoutest High Mileage oil there is! Now, if only I could find it.......

Here, cleaned up the link for you:

Chevron Supreme High Mileage Oil

Thanks Johnny. I'm curious to see what the others do with their High Mileage oils now that SN is out. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Valvoline upped the zinc in Maxlife a tad above GF-5/GF-4 limits.

That's the first I've heard about that. Chevron has new updated SN data sheets for Havoline. I doubt they'd do that and then dump the brand a year later.

I think they are keeping the Havoline name, they are just having it be 'Havoline by Chevron' by having the Chevron name on all containers.
