There's been a few threads about this engine - it's out of a 1970 Lincoln MK III. It's a 460 with about 97K miles on it. I think it's had an engine rebuild before. Evidence of assembly lube in places, plus the wear on the bearings seems to indicate maybe about 50-60K on them.

I bought this car three years ago - been running Chevron Delo LE 15w40 and WIX oil filters. On average changed the oil and filter about every 2K miles. I bought it with around 83K miles on it, so about 15K miles I've put on it.

I finally had to overhaul it because I blew a head gasket - lot's of coolant leaking into the cylinders, bad news!

Anyway, wanted you all to see the results of changing the oil regularly with a good dino oil.

Here's two pics - and no I didn't clean them up at all!

The link at the bottom is to the whole thread if you want to see over 100 detailed pics of the engine overhaul.

Thanks everyone for the advice over the years - I think the evidence shows it payed off.

460 engine overhaul thread

First off, I would like to say NICE CAR. I would love to have that body style. I had a 1977 MK V and it had a stock 460 with a holly 700. That motor would keep on pulling. Car had 145k on it when I got rid of it. The body was toast, The engine and transmission were still working very well though. I do miss that car. Oh , your pictures of the inside of the engine are looking good too.
