I thought about that immediately after posting. Thanks for the correction. I guess the open question is what impact loss of the credit will have on sales volumes. The Bolt seems like it's targeting the segment immediately below the Equinox. If they can ship them priced near 30k that's still very good. I suspect they need the LFP cells to get the price there.

GM is a legendary company; they have had their ups and downs. The loss of credit hurts every company that qualifies; some worse than others.
I fully expect Ms Barra and Co. to continue on their EV business path and will achieve profitability. They have to. Their 100+ years in business shows they know how to change and grow with the times and technologies.
But we are entering a new era driven by the rapid advancements in technology. There will be blood.
I hate to say it, but remember, "Wait till the big boys get in..." Still waiting. J/K

Can't ignore the gov't bailout in that history. GM has chosen fast follower status in the EV market, but I think it is well positioned to supplant Tesla as the leader in EV volume. Tesla messed up its product line with the Cybertruck, no updates to the S or X, and no sub Model Y model. Plus Elon lost the plot.
I think GM is making the investments needed to achieve greater production scale and drive down costs (LFP, Mn rich, domestic Lithium). Plus there are other domestic innovations, such as LiS and anode free, that can assist with driving costs down.
I think Elon will try and use his other companies to bail out Tesla. The brand destruction he wrought is, IMO, not repairable.
They do, Jeff. The company has been profitable by a wide margin over a Tesla for the last 10 years.

I am not cherry picking anything. I am talking about companies. Comparing the last ten years is cherry picking a start up vs a 100+ year old company. The Bolt was released in 2016 I believe and had the expertise of the legendary GM. "Wait for the big boys to get in."

Yeah, despite all the Elon hate, I can take a 2 mile walk in my neighborhood and see maybe 10 GM EVs, Meanwhile every 3rd house has a Tesla, so maybe 100 of them in the same route?
The only Equinox EV I’ve seen parked in our neighborhood is in my driveway.
Driving around I do see quite a few GM EVs including Equinoxes… but nothing compared to the number of Highland 3s and Juniper Ys already on the road.
This is laughable, the two companies are not comparable, however one thing we agree on, they both make vehicles as you mentioned in the first sentence.
