It's the sensible way to isolate anything. You learn that quickly around here (some learn it quickly around here) with the open board of peer review. Unfortunately, those conducting the experiments aren't necessarily "peers" of those who sensibly critique the process.
You just need to get spanked a few times to learn how to behave if you're going to present something "FWIW".

This assumes that the equipment isn't off track @ 100's of ppm. Even this will not tell you "good" or "bad" since it's a sample of one and pretty much totally unqualified in a group to find what "typical" is.
I hope the acid digester doesn't blow up like the one we had at work!
Just remember lewdwig...Aluminum + HCL ---> AlCL+Hydrogen gas and a little h20. Introduce a baloon filled with gasses from that reaction to a flame and you have a way to set off car alarms a few blocks away- without leaving the shop!
