check pump solenoid

hello all,

i recently got a diesel bosch ve fuel pumped re sealed and i noticed it is not sucking up the fuel. so i bypassed the fuel tank and ran the in fuel line from the pump to a cup filled with diesel. and turned the engine over but the pump did not suck up any fuel. I then checked the shutoff solenoid and it did light up with a circuit tester but that really does not mean the solenoid is working. any suggestions in how to check it? should i remove the solenoid and then see if the pump will at least then suck up the fuel?

You could connect the pump's engine straight to 12V DC and see if it works

well when i checked it with a light circuit tester it lit up when the key was turn over so i know power is getting to it but not entirely sure if its opening when power gets to it. I know if the pump is not sucking up fuel it may be due to solenoid either bad or the fuse blown

Are you air locked? Can you crack a line to an injector to lessen the pressure on the output side?

interesting tell me if i understand you right. So their is a possibilty that the fuel lines coming from the back of the pump to the injectors to the engine that their is a block of air disrupting the system. And i should try to lossen the fuel lines near the injectors to allow air to be pushed out?

If power is getting to it, then the fuse is OK.

A soleniod winding can show OK but the mechanisim can be jammed.

okay i just tested the solenoid by taking a wire off from the battery to the solenoid and it does click so that is fine.
