hey everyone, im new. I have a 94 accord and when i take off from a dead stop the car pings like crazy. That is only if i take off slow and normal, but when i start to floor it and go faster it does not do it at all. Then last week i put in medium grade gas and it didnt do it as bad, but it took a while longer to burn through the gas. and when i put in regular it pings and sounds like crap, and the gas burns faster. What do i do to solve this problem?? thanks.

Sounds like your jam packed full of carbon deposits.Especially if you get better gas mileage with higher octane.Try some Chevron Techron Concentrate (2 consecutive treatments are necessary) it comes in 12oz and 20oz bottles at treatment rate of one oz per gallon.I have tried Lucas Upper Cylinder Lubricant Complete Gas Treatment with very excellent results in regards to pinging.
If at all possible,switch to using Chevron 87 Gas from now on.Don't buy the higher octane and get stuck using it ,USE THE TECHRON NOW!
If the pinging doesn't stop after two full tanks with Techron, you will need to order some BG44K online and ue it.If you act quickly the pinging will not be a lasting problem.Good Luck!!

Whiteaccord, I agree with Mr TCar on the deposits and I like techron, its just too costly when you can use FP or Nuetra to clean up.
Another issue on Hondas is the ignition system components are worn out and needing changed. The most expensive possibility is that the the ignitor unit is failing slowly, usually they just die. On our Honda test engines I have seen a slow death that reports by clattering as you have described.

Does the 94 Honda have a MAF (mass airflow) sensor? These will get a patina on the wires over time, and cause a lean air/fuel condition which in turn causes pinging.
The cure is to very carefully clean the MAF wires.
