You mean the tweel? Just a matter of time before China copies that too, if they haven't done so already.

Sure China can made a copy, but most likely not a reliable one. I think their folly is in inferior materials science and as we know QC control.
That huge russian 40 mile convoy in Ukraine is bogged down bc of cheap tires LOL

I was very surprised to see how many of the Russian vehicles had flat tires, not even blown up or on fire, just abandoned. I couldn't tell if there were bullet holes but you'd think there would be an inner rim or some run flat mechanism. If it wasn't for air superiority, this would have been a fair fight.

Off topic, but what scares me about the whole battle for the UA soldiers on the ground is at night you are a sitting duck. FLIR and thermal vision is super effective, makes you glow on camera, perfect target for helicopters. I guess the UA can only be effective during they day with Javelins, NLAWs, ambush attacks, and Russian soldiers surrendering.

It's bogus news, and political / war-related topics don't belong on this forum. The disinformation floating "out there" on the Internet is bad enough. Suddently everyone is an armchair military expert. Russia is an oil and gas-rich country, and they are perfectly capable of manufacturing their tires. Not S
sounds like you're quite the armchair expert yerself. LOL.

Making tires? Besides vodka, gasoline and mayhem, what do they produce- Bought anything that says "made in Russia" (in your entire life, even)?

War related topics don't belong here but posts about tires, do.

Friends who are following this, are puzzled by the separated tires they are observing on numerous channels. Now they know-Chinese tires.

The radio told me it was fuel and food that had stopped them.

Chinese tires holding up military vehicles? Heh, if that's so then maybe Ukraine does have a chance.

If Ignorance is bliss, then you seem pretty happy.

Guns and ammo. That is about it though come to think of it. Not big on vodka

I'm convinced that a lot of the "expert" recommendations spewed out by the tire industry now is just marketing propaganda. Tire technology is mostly mature and any improvements now are immeasurably small at this point. Things like the 7 degree rule for switching to winter tires, or that tires older than 5 years are unsafe. Yes, there's some truth to it but also widely exaggerated.

While yes, the "expert" poster in the article has some basis in his claim that maintenance resources are likely thin as evident in the lack of rotating tires, to go as far to say that this is outright one of the significant things holding back the army because they can't safety go offroad on a Chinese tire vs a Michelin is ridiculous. While the Chinese knockoffs would likely not compare to the Michelins, to say that they would outright fail on a massive level due to sitting around for a year sounds highly improbably. A company that makes tires of that low quality would not be in business for long. Tires have always been an incredibly tough and simple part that can withstand a surprising amount of abuse.

Even national network TV is talking about the problems Russian military is having with their tires and lack of attention to them. They seem to have problems finding replacement tires.
