So I ordered several cartridge filters from rock auto. Said clearance and were like $1 a piece. They came in real quick. I opened the package and their all in firestone boxes. Some r made in us and India and Bulgaria lol. I thought champion labs made their filters all here in us and I guess they make em for firestone??? Any thoughts on quality?

At my work, we used to use them. Never had a issue with any of them. Now we use WIX. $$$ reasons, but I have used their cousin or a STP filter without issue.

Cartridges are usually made in third world countries, except for some Mann and Mahle cartridges that are made in Europe (mainly for European cars), and most (but NOT all) Purolator cartridges are US-made

Fram and Purolator spin-ons are made in the USA, and most Wix cans are US-made too (but some have sadly moved to Mexico)

I'm sure Champion / Fram Filtration has manufacturing plants worldwide, but normally what they distribute in the US is made in a small subset of those plants.

Leave it to Rockauto to source overseas-made stuff instead of the readily available domestic equivalent. Almost makes me wonder if its an under-the-table deal direct with the owners of those plants, or else outright counterfeit parts.

The Wix/NAPA spin-on oil filters for my Elantra are made in Mexico. Microgard (made by Wix) is made in USA though. It is true that I would have preferred it if Wix had continued to make all of their spin-on oil filters in the USA, but from what I understand, the Wix spin-on oil filters that are made in Mexico are good quality filters (equal in quality to the USA-made filters).

I ordered wholesale closeout Champs filters from Rockauto that were also Firestone. Mine are of the spin on variety.

Would these either be ecore or extra guard equivalents? Back when I took over the service of my moms Elantra, it had a Firestone filter on it. I know it had metal end caps and I want to say it had the Purolator bypass spring.

Good ol rockauto champ labs lottery you never know what will show up at your door I got parts plus filters made by premium guard and for my other truck got champ brand

There I figured out a way. All my champ filters are one of these 3. The one in the middle is American. Bulgaria on your left and India on your right. They all look good to my eyes but I guess that alone cannot tell the tale.

Me too and its the American version
