changing transmission fluid

I got a 1996 Acura Integra GS-R 5 speed. I'm trying to change the transmission fluid, but i'm not sure how to do this. I got the service manual and it says for me to check the transmission fluid while the car is on ground level? I don't know how's that possible since I got to jack the car up to get to where the oil filler plug and drain plug underneath the passenger side.

Also the plug sit sideways and I'm not sure how to fill the transmission fluid.

Here's the instructions I'm reading. Can anyone help me out here. I'm also not sure what the size of the drain plug washer I'm supposed to change. Do I need those special funnels or something...I'm not sure what their called.

You may have to jack it up, then let it down to check/fill it. A funnel with a flex hose can be bought at most auto parts stores for cheap $.
On level ground, fill it until it seeps out of the fill hole.
BTW, always make sure the fill plug will come out before you drain the transmission.

I use a gear oil pump, its basically a big syringe with a hose on the end, to fill mine. About $15 at Canadian Tire. I fill it until its overflowing with the car jacked up and I've never had a problem, but this may not be a good idea for every car. If you want the level just right and absolutely cannot reach to fill plug with the car on level ground, just fill it up, put a drain pan underneath, and lower the car. Then lift it back up and put the fill plug in.

Jack the car up and put it on 4 jack stands.

Looking at your posted image, I'd say you're trying to change the TRANSAXLE OIL and not the TRANSMISSION FLUID since your car has a manual transmission correct?

yes it is a manual transmission. Well I'm going with the manual and it says its transmission fluid.

Here is what I do:

1. While on the garage floor, I open the passenger door and on the center of the door sill I set a level and note the position of the bubble.

2. I drive the vehicle up on Rhino ramps.

3. I jack the rear at the central jacking point up until the bubble on the level is at the same position. Put jack stands under the car and snug up to the jack points.

4. Remove FILL plug (don't lose the washer!).

5. Remove the drain plug (don't lose the washer!).

6. Replace drain plug after cleaning the magnet.

7. Pump correct fluid in until it overflows a bit.

8. Replace fill plug.
