Saturday will be the day. I'm showing(Teaching) a buddy how to change the oil in his truck. The Ranger has just turned 80K miles and we will be putting in Maxlife 5W-20 and a PureOne PL24651 Filter. The best part about all this is that he gave ME the money to go buy him all the necessary items. I bought all the stuff with someone elses money and satisfied my oilcoholism free of charge. He wanted it all, oil drain pan, oil filter wrench, he even bought Rhino ramps. If he doesn't like doing his own oil changes I may be getting some goodies. Not sure what type or if any tools he has but we will be doing this in my garage so I may just hold the equipment for safe keeping,AKA....using.

cool, man. is the general consensus ABOVE 75K?
75K is what Valvoline(Maxlife recommends), I started putting Maxlife in my wife's Tribute @ 75K and we've never had a oil related problem. I use Motorcraft 5W-20 Syn Blend in my truck.
bought 15 quarts of maxlife 5w30, going to put in my car when it hits 97k.
I didn't know they made MaxLife in 5W-20. Learned something new.

The oil time i would change is if you notice any issues. I went with Mobil 1 High Mileage at 117K on the wifes Jetta just because.

Only reason I ask was I doubt you would have had any oil related problems if you would have just stuck with the Motorcraft 5W-20. I'm a big believer if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Nothing wrong with the Maxlife, but there is nothing magical about having 75,000 miles on the engine either.
