Since Iridium spark plugs last so long I fell behind on my sparkplug numbers. About 70,000 miles ago I put in 41-110 sparkplugs. Sometime along the way the number changed to 41-162 and a small “collar” was include in the design. I attached a photo. This design is recommended for all Gen 4 engines.

In 2014 the Gen 5 engines got direct injection and a part number change to 41-114. I believe the 41-110 is no longer made. The pre-2014 V-8’s still get 41-162 Iridium plugs

A second photo shows a 41-114,the. Number of threads is totally different, with 10 for the 41-162 and 17 for the 41-114 .Please fill in the gaps ( no pun intended) if you like.

I was wondering about this as well as I own a gen 3, gen 4 and gen 5 small blocks and the numbers change and vary more than I can keep up with. I guess with further r&d engineers discover ways to improve? Maybe reduce lspi, improve fuel economy, etc.

On my LS6 in my 03 vette even the gap got reduced significantly with the spark plug number update.

I just bought a set of 41-162's from ORielys to replace the OEM 41-110s in my 2010 Yukon. They do look a little different. The best information I could find on the number change was that the originals were made by Denso and the new ones are made by NGK or vice versa. GM supposedly changed the part number when they changed suppliers.

Here is a set of AC Delco 41-162 Iridum sparkplugs I got from Rock Auto for my son’s Silverado. There was no COO listed which probably means China.
Enjoy.

It seems like they switched suppliers, and the new part number is the new supplier. They went from Champion to NGK.

I checked the 41-110 sparkplugs from my Son’s 2010 Silverado with a 4.8 liter LS engine. Not sure how many miles are on them but at least 60,000 miles. I pulled the drivers side front plug which is the easiest plug to get to. Here is a shot of it next to a new 41-162. It looked good enough so I put off the plug change to another time.

interestingly to me that Rock Auto lists the ACD 41-162 as double platinum but your box clearly shows they are iridium...

it seems like the NGK 7397 might be the same as the original to my ACD 41-110s...at least going by the photos I've seen at www.RockAuto.com

I entered Rock Auto through a 2010 Silverado with a 4.8 V-8 and it shows the AC Delco 41-162 being an Iridium plug. Not sure what’s up with what you might have seen.

The NGK 7397 is the IX version of their Iridium and the NGK 1465 is their Laser Iridium which apparently is upscale to the IX and is the direct replacement of the AC Delco 41-162. The AC Delco and the NGK 1465 both have a small “ collar “ at the base of the electrode where as the NGK 7397 does not. I’ll load some photos a bit later. :)

Here are screen shots of Iridum plugs for Chevy LS engines, the similarities between the AC Delco 41-162 and the NGK 1465 and also a pic of the NGK 7397 which is slightly different, with no collar at the base of the electrode. Enjoy.

I was comparing the NGK7397 as looking like the OEM as originally installed ACD 41-110 you show in your photo above...

as to the ACD 41-162 on the RockAuto.Com site... obviously a glitch on the RockAuto site as I saw that when you go in under your 2010 it is listed as an iridium plug as you mentioned above while going in under my 2005 GMC Yukon Denali 6.0 that same plug is listed as a double platinum despite the box you bought showing it is definitely an Iridium...

I was trying to illustrate that the NGK7397 (ACD 41-110?) might be what plugs were originally in your son's Silverado AND what is originally in my 2005 Denali and since they look so good after all this time, they might be worth replacing rather than trying the now recommended ACD 41-162...

apologies for causing any confusion but your thread was timely in that my 2005 has 82K miles on it and still the originally installed plugs that I had been thinking of replacing and it is good to know that iridium plugs ARE still available ...

I think I see the solution. That AC Delco in the double platinum section is 41-962, not 41-162 as for the Iridium. ;)
