I am the 2nd owner of an 04 F350 DRW 4x4 Crew v10. Truck has 42,000 miles and this past weekend I changed the rear and front diff oil to Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-90. No friction modifier was added and no chatter has been present. Also changed the transfer case fluid to Amsoil ATF and also thoroughly flushed the power steering system with Amsoil ATF and the whining pump is now silent. Everything went well and next on the agenda is to replace the brake fluid when I get time. Then I can relax!

No transmission fluid exchange or coolant exchange to Amsoil? But I don't blame you, all that you did was probably ~$100. Save the transmission and coolant for a warmer day. I am a very solid believer in the Amsoil products, especially the ATF, MTF and gear oils.

I bought the truck in December with only 29K, and at that time had the local Ford dealer flush the coolant system and also had a local transmission shop flush the transmission. Its a good shop and they allow me in the back to watch the mechanic. I guess I should have supplied them with Amsoil ATF, but I didn't really think of it. Next time!

Yeah, Id be less concerned with the ford G-05 and merc V.
Your truck would love Amsoil ATF. What about some kind of external filter on the transmission (spin-on or Magnefine).

Did the gas engine truck gets the 5r110 in 2004? If so it requires Mercon LV, not Mercon V.

What do you do with the truck? Keep an eye on the exhaust manifold studs...sooner or later they will start breaking.

Does your rear end call for 75W-90, or should it be 75W-140? Most Ford rear ends since the dawn of man call for 75W-140. It probably won't make a difference, but with gear oil I always err to the thicker side.

Its a Dana 80 rear end and calls for 75W-90. I probably could have used 140 just as well.
