I was unable to find a suredrain to fit (at least for my 2001 A4); plus I hate how slow it drains.
And yes, I was thinking some type of hinged door. Perhaps using rivets/screws to hold in place. The access panel could be big enough to get your hand up to get the filter/drain plug, but wouldn't affect the aerodynamics and/or whatever protection the underbelly provides.
I am not sure if it would apply to all A4/Passats, A6s, Jettas, TT, etc...if the oil filter and drain plug are close together on all models, it could be a niche market. For me not have to remove the underbelly, it would be worth it.
