I have a 2 day track event @ Road America in 2 weeks. My Current fill is GC with 3500 (winter) miles on it. Should I go ahead and run this oil @ the track and change it when I get back or Change it before the track day?

That's a good question. In my humble opinion I would change after the track event. My logic behind it is that the 3500 miles is probably just fine on that car on GC and some of the research out there indicates that fresh oil has a "cleansing effect" that increases wear rates. Running the engine hard before the additive chemistries have had a chance to activate might increase wear. I stress the word might.

I'd then replace the oil after the track event. That's just me.

Have fun!

I'd leave it in for the event, then drain it afterwards and send it in for a used oil analysis! (used oil analysis)

I did a two day event at Road Atlanta! i loved it, i really pushed my car to it's limits, i would def. leave the oil in for the events because the oil gets a pretty good beat down, and theres no sense in beating up perfectly good fresh oil; 3500 is nothing for a Groub IV synthetic like German Castrol. Run it, beat it up, than change the filter and oil when you get home...and some new brake pads.

For those who haven't been there, the photo is of Road America's paddock. The front straight is over to the right with the cars heading towards you, and to the left on the other side of the woods is the straight approaching turn #5.

If you're a fan of road racing, then you must visit Road America at least once during your life.

Nice Skyline Coupe you have there. What year is it?

03 lightly modded going on 85k, had it since 19k and have enjoyed every daily driven and track minute!

Its the reason I found this great site, seeking info on M1 after someone posted a used oil analysis showing high lead wear on a g35 forum. Now thanks to these guys I have 36 quarts of GC, 10 quarts syntec 5w30, 10 quartz pennzoil platinum. 3 bottles techron, 9 redline complete fuel system cleaner,Not to mention the whole LC line up and on and on and on

Those cars are simply amazing, it's like a luxurious 350z. How reliable has it been for you, even with the track usage?

After 80k+ miles,

replaced window motors on both sides (warranty)
have a small squeak somewhere that I cant find and thats it!
