I'm a big fan of MC filters. I'm also thinking of running M1 EP for an extended interval...lol I am thinking of running the oil in my Mazda3 for 8-10k, initially. I really don't want to fork out more money for an M1 filter or the like, so the question is, will a MC filter last 8-10k? I believe it will, but would like your input.

I used Motorcraft FL400S for 12-14k/1yr in '94 LS400 without any problem. It has Bosch Premium 3422 now because I bought a few for less than $2/ea, I'm planning to use Bosch filter for 1 year too.

In short..if you're doing a service that would tend to support 10k OCI's to begin with the filter will go the distance.

Here is a post w/pix on my FL820S.

My conclusion was 10K miles on my 2005 3L was not a problem in terms of filter capacity on a clean/clean running engine.

The 'only' concern is no metal tab over media ends, they are glued (Purolator made). So 10K/1yr would be absolute max for me.

I don't think the M1 buys you much more and is x3 expensive for me.
