70 year Old Geezer here with physical issues. Don't trust anyone to do my oil changes. I have 8 garage queens that get driven once a week here in Texas for 10 miles each to fully bring oil up to temp. One of these vehicles is a 16 Challenger Scat Pack 392 - 485 HP non turbo/supercharger. Bought it new and it has 10K miles on it. It has only covered 2K miles in the past 18 months. I'm thinking of sucking out the full syn 0w40 7 quarts and not changing the filter this time due to knee replacement and destroyed shoulder. It is next to impossible for me to struggle up off the floor. I know it is not ideal but I really don't want to go through the torment of getting under the car. Filter should be OK for another 2K - 18 months, right?

OEM filter? Silicone ADBV? I've left the oil filter on for ~3 years on a few vehicles that hardly get driven and the filter still looked good inside when I did finally changed it and cut it open for a look. I'd think you should be good.

No worry. I change the oil/filter on my garage queen every 3-4 years. I rarely will reach 2.5k-3k miles. I run conventional oil and a Motorcraft FL1A, which is the only Motorcraft filter I will use.I have had the oil analyzed several times. I was told each time I could go longer on the oil.

Most manufacturers actually recommend changing the filter every SECOND oci ( at least I know Lexus does).
I've done it before, and when finally accessing the filter it looked perfectly fine (not much different than the old one it replaced, aside from being oil-soaked).

Surely you can find a local mechanic or small shop that you can trust to do those changes for you. I used to do mine but conditions similar to your forced me to find some place to do the changes. I can still do my tractor which is high off the ground, and the Slingshot by using an extractor. It has a cartridge filter on top that is easy to get at.

My old 4-cyl Tree Branch Chipper has had the same Napa Gold filter for about 15 years..... I think you will be just fine.

I'm (FINALLY) this weekend going to get around to cutting open my 50,000 mile Fram Tough Guard!!

I'd go two years. Theres surely margin built into the design, but if you care so much about your cars that you can't find another person to spin on a filter, I suspect you care more than to leave it on against manufacturer's advice.

Ive run filters that have sat for 6+ years, but not for long periods and I wouldn't make it a habit on a car I care about.

They do sell relocation kits...

, lol.

you should be good...heck I've left filters on my daily driver for at least 2 oil changes ,never a problem...this might not be the same thing but I usually leave the filter on my John Deere rider for two seasons,,cut the filter opn when I didchange it and the filter looked almost new

Just do the oil swap spend the extra $$ on a better oil, maybe while you are opening the hood its time to check what the brake fluid looks like? Not that you are going to really flush it out but what stops you from sucking out the contents of the MC and refilling that with new?
