Was able to get some runtime on my genset yesterday had a 10 hr power outage. Sat since may of 2021 has 5w30 super tech synthetic in the sump. Going to drain and replace with circle-k 10w30 syn-blend I picked up when I filled the gas can. I forget what I treated the fuel with back in may but it started right up and ran great maybe stp red bottle.

I make sure and use ethanol free fuel in all my small engines. I learned my lesson a few years back when I accidently left some regular fuel in my snowblower that was stored during construction of our house. Crazy how expensive a crummy carb kit can be for these small engines. I also have a Champion inverter gen for our RV, so far I am impressed with it.

If you look on the project farm youtube page he did a test of treated fuel vs non ethanol. Its pretty revealing
Youtube channel "taryl fixes all" did a 12+ month fuel additive observation and ALL the fuel additives did nothing to prevent ethanol fuel forming jelly and rusting the bowl.
The only fuel that didn't gel and worked was VP non-ethanol fuel.
These fuel "treatments" are snake oil and drain your wallet.
Use non-ethanol gas.

being i don't use mine all that much, possibly once a years. i drain the fuel, let it run till it stops running and store it till next time i need it...after 10 years of doing it this way, i have yet for it not to start on the first pull

i am tempted to drain the fuel completely. just finished the tune up air filter looks fine spark plug was ok re-gapped to .30 cleaned up nicely with carb/choke cleaner next time around i will put a new plug in the machine.

I run 89 octane ethanol free fuel in all of my OPE. Luckily I don't have to travel that far to get it at a reasonable price. Prior to that I would treat the fuel with Sta-Bil and run it dry before putting it away. Never leave gas with ethanol sitting in your OPE for any length of time.

I got a brand new MasterCraft (Canadian tire brand made by Champion) 5500w generator a couple months ago. Very impressed with it so far. Filled with non ethanol 91. It's just for backup so I've got just short of 1 hour on it so far. It's loud enough I didn't feel like annoying our neighbor any longer than that.

I guess I'll run it for another hour in the spring and then change the supplied conventional 5w30 for synthetic 0w30 in case we ever need it in extremely cold weather.

I put some 2-cycle oil in the gas and then run the tank and carb dry. I also slosh the fuel around to coat the tank.
Doing it this way removes all the fuel from the system and leaves a thin protective coating on all the internal parts of the fuel system.

Use non-ethanol gas.
Unfortunately not everyone has that option. Pretty much every station in my area within a 100 mile radius sells E10 fuel only. Using non-ethanol fuel would mean buying those 1 gallon cans from Home Depot, which if you have several machines and go through a lot of fuel that gets expensive quickly.

I've found the best method is simply to shut off the fuel and run the carburetors dry during storage.

Fuel stabilizer is meant to prevent varnish and phase separation … but unlike my boat … OPE does not have separators and high grade dual fuel filters …
When I can’t get E0 - I’m still going to use Chevron multi marine - and follow another boaters practice - half full is half empty. Keep tanks full often and own good gas cans that seal tight …

I watched that - really would like to see this done by a serious laboratory with some empirical data sets typical of what companies like Yamaha must have used when they worked on corrosion issues.
Lucas? still going to trust Chevron more - they get re labelled by several OEM

I have a Champion Model #100519 6250-Watt Open Frame Inverter generator. It is the second Champion I owned. The first one was a 3500 watt model used with my 5th wheel. It had hundreds of hours on it and never had one issue.
Champions are very reliable and for the prive and 3 year warranty, they can't be beat.
I'm lucky that there is a gas station a few miles from me that sells 100% gas. Thats all I use in all of my OPE.
I still double dose all my gas cans with Stabil 360 Marine when I fill them up. I keep around 70 gallons of gas on hand year round.
Never have any carburetor issues.

I don't do this, but one can buy a bottle of TruFuel from the hardware store. Run the engine dry, then pour a half cup of TruFuel in there, slosh it around and run it dry again to flush out the system.

I don't have any issues with E10, marine Stabil and a shot of TCW-3 2 cycle oil. Works great and I don't have to drive 50 miles to get E0.

Fortunately i have a Harris Teeter grocery store gas station that sells E-0. I have 10 gallons on hand for this weekend. Local weather calling for freezing rain and snow.

I had to run my generator last monday all day due to wind and snow taking down trees.

Mixed 2 gallons of fresh E-0 40:1 chainsaw gas as well.

I have to agree with RED RIDE, as long as you are using it for a long period any fresh fuel is OK. When you are finished store it with trufuel.
