I came into possession of a bunch of these filters and thought I would run them on my 2019 Kia Forte. Someone I trust says I shouldn't put them on a Kia and that Kia's should only run on OEM filters. He seemed quite adamant about this so I want your opinions if you would run these on a Kia?

The only thing I'd be concerned about is their age. I very recently came across some COS3614 filters for my various Chrysler products, and they were all from 2015. Since I don't know how they were stored I passed on them. Date codes are on the top of each filter.
I seem to remember Rock Auto closing out all of them about a decade ago.
If they're relatively new you can use them with confidence.

Kia had a TSB warning about 3rd party oil filters, I am sure that has been corrected today, but maybe not for older filters.
I would never run OEM branded filters unless they were better / cheaper than anything else I could easily get locally. None of the OEMs make their filters, it's just different labels & part numbers.
I will cut any new-to-me oil / fuel filter before it goes on the equipment. Bad assembly / design is pretty easy to catch once you're used to it.

Most of that TSB was to address the change in the mid 2000's by Hyundai/KIA that had their newer models that would pressure spike with then current filters like the FRAM PH3593A could not handle it and why they came out with the PH9688. Other filters makers had to change also and some did not.
It also adds confusion that some private label oil filters that used the FRAM numbering system like this Champion CS3593A still using the old FRAM base part number.
Lastly, that TSB also does not explicitly prohibit all aftermarket filters for Hyundai/KIA but just gives the dealership tech guidance that if they are presented a vehicle with a problem aftermarket oil filter, the visit is not covered under warranty if the remedy is to install a OEM oil filter.
As to Champion (not Champion Labs) oil filters, the only retail place I ever saw them was Pep Boys and they have been out of the retail parts game a few years now.
