I ordered 12 of these filters off Amazon. Seem like a well made filter, the louvers are open well. Seems like Champ labeled Mobil 1 filter. The only thing I’m leery of is the production date. When the other 11 come in, I’ll see what the date codes are on them. Any reason not to run them?

I've been using the regular Champs for years without issue. I would expect the Champ XL to perform just fine.
Current Mobil 1 filters look Puro made to me

I've been interested in ordering that specific series number filter for a long time but just haven't got around to doing it. @Bettez88 are you planning on cutting any of these open, used or unused? Based on the information I have gotten from Champ these are rated at 99% @ 20 microns for filtration efficiency. I see them as a rough equivalent to a Fram tough guard though these could be considered cheaper and better built since the cans are thicker and they have metal end caps.
Current Mobil 1 filters are made by Mann-Hummel at purolator's factories, sometime in late 2019 they made the change.

For o-rings and soft seal components used in critical applications (military, space flight, aerospace, etc...) we limit warehouse shelf life to 32 quarters (8 years). And that is 32 quarters in our warehouse, nevermind how long the product is used by the customer (many customers require a 20 year operational life guarantee).
This is based on extensive lab testing, voice of the customer feedback, and installed base performance data.
In all likelihood you returned perfectly acceptable product, but to each their own.
I may hang onto them seeing as I got the for basically $5 a piece from Amazon, they had the for $9 but they’re essentially “price matching” rockauto prices. 12 for around $60 doesn’t seem too bad to me
If that’s true, why not market it as such? Would also not make these an M1 clone; which is rated 99% at 30 microns.
What the manufacturer themselves say is:
"All Champ oil filters use filtration media engineered with a variety of natural and synthetic fibers to provide up to 98% efficiency while offering optimum capacity and flow restriction."
Which is about as useless as it gets since it could mean (up to) 98% at 300 microns. Based on that it's hardly an equivalent to a Tough Guard, rough or otherwise.
I’m thinking they’re 99% at 30 microns, just like Mobil 1, both Supertech’s and possibly K&N? Basically every Champ Labs made filters have the same filtering other than their full synthetic fiber filters
Anecdotally, and you are welcome to take it however you like, I reached out to Champ maybe two years ago and one of their reps said that this filter was 99% @ 20 microns and they previously had information on their website referring to this. They obviously do not have the same information on their website now so who knows.

I bought cases of the regular version of these Champ filters for the vehicles in my sig. I cut open every used one. They look great for the price.
Sounds like there’s no way that is currently true since it conflicts with the relatively useless information they do give.
