Center Punch

Any recommendations for center punches? They are handy when using a hole saw. What sizes are used most often? Current need is for use with a 1.25" hole saw. I thought about the ones below.

What material will you be center punching?

All those choices look better than the low cost punches….the last two cheapie punches I had just mushroomed! Garbage.

fiberglass this weekend

I wouldn't center punch fiberglass. I'd get your smallest bit and drill a pilot hole or just make a small divot that the drill bit in your holesaw can start out in. Fiberglass is easy to crack with a center punch.

I have a fiberglass extension ladder from Green Bull and the instructions for installing the Werner automatic leveler says to use a center punch.

I agree. Or just dig a small pit with a sharp awl.

I'd buy the automatic and never look back. they are a very handy tool to own.
