Thanks for any advice you can give. I want to make some changes to save some money if possible. I am currently with Sprint but I am out of contract and I would like to change to something with unlimited everything. I pay for my parents to have a cell phone and I use my cell for everything. I canceled my home phone service. Boost has no contracts which I really like but I have heard they use an old technology for their service? T Mobile I have heard does fine where I live (central Florida) However I heard when you leave this area I have heard its not so good. Please give me any opinions or experiences. Thank you.

T-Mobile's service can be spotty out in the boondocks, but their coverage is pretty solid in large swathes of the country. I would imagine that they have decent coverage in Florida. They also use GSM technology so you can use your phone overseas (which is an issue for me). When my contract with ATT is up, I'm moving my phones to T-Mobile.

I was with verizon and they have excellent coverage but high prices, so i switched to page plus cellular. they offer unlimited talk and text for 39.95 and they run off the verizon network. main difference with the major companies and companies like boost, metro pcs, ect... is they are mvno companies which buy talk and text from the major companies. now alot of the smaller companies dont offer roaming like the majors do. u will hear nationwide coverage used alot with these companies and they have it but when you roam onto other companies the phones simply dont work or you will be charged roaming. i chose page plus because they use verizons prepaid coverage which is quite extensive due to the verizon/alltel merger.places where there is no verizon native coverage is roaming which is 59 cent per minute. search around and check you zip code with the companies and see whats best for you but i too have also hear that boost uses sprints old technology.

If you're otherwise happy with Sprint, look at Virgin Mobile. They use Sprint's network and have no-contract options like Boost does,

I've had Virgin Mobile since 2006 and never had a situation where coverage was a problem.

I used to have verizon for my work phone, it worked well except in basements and i couldnt make phone calls in central washington state.

I travel a bit for work so its important to me.

Since we have changed over to T-Mobile, about four years ago, the service is much less expensive. And it works in basements !

Walmart straight talk uses the tracphone network, which is my experience has been rather poor.

I have had sprint for 10 years, I can only think of a couple times where I have had service issues.

I do believe that Virgin Mobile and Boost both use the Sprint network. I think that Virgin had a little better deal on the unlimited plan.

Now I see that Tmobile has stepped up and came in with another 49 dollar unlimited plan. Its good to see that the wars are heating up.

I have an old sprint plan that is discounted, 500 minutes and unlimited internet for 26 dollars after corporate discount.

I'll stick with that until they boot me.

I had tmobile and was happy. I wanted an IPhone and so now have AT&T. The network is more congested, but at the same time traveling all over the country, AT&T is not as spotty as verizon would make them out to be.

I have verizon for work, for a blackberry and air card, and it is fast, but spottier than they and CR claim, IMO.

All are overpriced; AT&T being the worst.

Tracfone has worked well for us.

I second ATT. I've had it for the past three years. Great coverage and service. Verizon's ludicrous 3G map ads are totally wrong. I have 3G where I live and I have it from here all the way to FL. Not to mention the iPhone is SOOOO worth it.

Do you have MetroPCS or Cricket in your area? I'd use them in a heartbeat over most pre-paids. If you have friends on AT&T or Verizon, you can go with their prepaid but it's a tad pricey. Metro and Cricket will let you bring over your own CDMA phone - for a $30 fee.

I've jumped ship from VZW over to AT&T. The iPhone is in a class of its own IMO. The Droid isn't as cracked up as VZW wants you to believe, it's still handicapped somewhat. AT&T didn't work at my house but it does quite well now.

Depends on where you live. Vzw has service out here where ATT cant even begin to touch. Phones are a matter of opinion. My little brother has the iphone, which is a toy phone IMO. I love my BlackBerry though. The Droid as well as any phone CDMA carriers come out with will all be handicapped somewhat.

Different carriers work well in different parts of the country. Tracfone works well here in NC. And the $30 a month deal (straight talk) is the best value I have found.

I didn't say that I didn't love it... I really do with my iPhone. Note that I've had either a t-mobile or a verizon phone alongside AT&T, and have neither found it to be as poor as verizon makes it out to be, or as robust as t-mobile or verizon, both ofwhichhave their hiccups too..

I had Sprint years ago. The coverage was terrible here. Whenever I left the major beaten tracks the signal disappeared. They didn't even cover large areas of western KY. Surely they have improved since then.

Over three years ago we moved to Cingular. Coverage is excellent around here, the phones work everywhereout in the boondocks I go to. Verizon does too, some friends have their service.

I feel AT&T has been gouging, however. I love the rollover that Cingular introduced, but AT&T tries to make up for that with the rest of their charges.

When we're ready to move on I'll seriously consider T-mobile, partly because I'd like to stick with GSM. I like being able to move a SIM to another phone, and use the phone in other countries (even though I don't travel very much), and don't particularly like CDMA.

AT&T has been working quite well for me, almost as good as Verizon in terms of network. I don't miss their tactics or the teeny bopper phones they tend to push - mostly LGs. However, their BlackBerries are solid phones and the Androids look promising, but I think Motorola's gone down the [censored] and Comcast along with VZW has ruined Moto for me.

Net 10. $15 a month and it works everywhere that I've been. Anything on the Sprint backbone around here stinks. Anywhere north of Idaho falls and both my $150 mo Nextel and Virgin Mobil phones are dead.

The Net10 minutes roll over, no day fee and no additional fees/taxes/roaming to pay. Just 10 cents a minute PERIOD.

Next would be Straight Talk from Wal-Mart for $30 (1000 minutes/1000 texts/30mb data) or $45 unlimited.

Wife wanted a Iphone and after seeing how much it cost (no wonder people are having financial problems) and its only avail on AT&T (which stinks in the west) she is staying on Net10.

I don't do contracts. Prepaid only.

Take care, Bill
