Yeah, I don't understand all that myself, but it's their $$ to $pend, $ave or $quander as they wish.
I just hope my new "near-free" phone on the way will have decent battery life(specs say it should), better than average to excellent reception(mebbe not- internal antenna only
), and lasts out the year of warranty. After that, I'm sure TracFone or Simple Freedom will have another "phone for a year" deal & I'll probably move on to that.
While I need a phone, I don't use that much time & prepaid is right for me. Just got off the easy-mopnthly-payment-treadmill, & ain't goin' back!
Poor old Uncle Stu, just doesn't know how behind it all he is with his stock phone cover plate, stock ringtone, no leather holster, no headset, no bluetooth, no IR, just a phone.
Oh well, at least this one will have a camera- & it was still "almost free".
