Hi All,

For all of those Canadians out there looking at changing their oil, Princess Auto has their house brand fluid extractor on sale for $49.99 - comes with 3 tubes (2 for the dipstick). The regular price on this unit is $69.99.

From the looks of it, this unit comes from the same OEM as the Pela 650 and the MityVac 7400. It is the same size as the MityVac unit at 7.3 litres and is larger than the Pela unit.

I picked one up on Friday and used it yesterday. The quality of the construction seems good. Works like a champ!

What makes using an oil extractor a better way to drain oil than dropping the drain plug? I can drain oil in any car Ive ever owned in 15 miutes. 10 minutes of which, I can do other stuff.

Depends on who you ask and what urban legend you subscribe to

If you ignore the folks that say an oil extractor won't extract all of the oil or the folks that point at a few car manufacturers that are using them for their OCI, you basically get this -

It's cleaner for the user to use an extractor versus dropping the drain plug. Just a couple of pumps and the oil starts flowing.

To each his own though, eh?

Just used it for my tranny. Works pretty good except for my tranny pan is kind of odd in shape so I wasn't able to get all of the fluid out that I wanted to. I guess I will have to do another change a few months from now.

I use it for my brake fluid change,my diffs on every other change, power steering fluid change, and on other models/makes ,other than Jeeps ,that have no drain plug for the tranny. There are other ways to change fluids for sure but this pump is clean and neat!
