Caution: 2010 Fusion Transmission Service Campaign

Everytime I see the endless trouble with automatic tranmissions I'm glad I've never driven one for a couple of decades....

If you don't drive in daily grid locked traffic and can handle a more interactive car experience I always say by manual....

Less cost at initial purchase
More flexible during slippery weather
More durable overall
Less cost when maintenance is needed...

Manual tranmissions just make better sense.

A good AT design and platform is still better than a MT because of ease of driving in city traffic and bad weather, where both hands are better off being on the steering wheel and mind on the driving and not shifting. I also prefer parking brake to be accessible by left foot, both to activate and deactivate. A good AT should only be required to have ATF changed every 30-50k miles.

You're fine, don't worry.

Six-speeds do tend to behave a bit differently than four speed automatics, so I'm sure yours is fine.

Call me crazy but it takes more than a internet review to ease one's mind. I would check with Ford regional rep to make sure the VIN number is not part of the bad batch. Then I make them fix it if it is.

I hate stealership and garage. I have determined to buy only cars to timing chain in the future to avoid going out for any repair or maintenance beside brake service, which is cheap and is done once every 3 years for fluid and every 15 for pads.

But I bought 10,000 shares at $1.50 a share Spring 2009, I'm not too worried....

How can I verify my car has the right program anyone know? I called the service dept and the lady who answered the phone said it was reprogrammed but I would like to be sure.

If your car is among those with the issue then you will receive a letter from Ford. We received ours last week, took it in, had it reprogramed and the car is running great. Took less than a half hour and they washed the car before they gave us back the keys.

I did not receive a letter I bought the car just a few weeks ago and it was built in feb. I called the service dept and the lady said it was reprogrammed but is there a way I can check myself? Is there a code number or something also for the reflash? Ide hate to realize they made a mistake by the time I start noticing issues.

I hear a lot of 2010 Fusions with that noise. Earlier models didn't have them, why did it affect this model?

Ford Taurus/Sable transmissions all over again?

Not saying they all do this, but Dodge places a sticker under hood somewhere stating the ECM/PCM was reprogrammed by them, on a certain date. I have two stickers under hood regarding reflashes.

The date your car was manufactured shows that it was NOT among those needing reprograming.... Your car is fine.

generally Ford does not use those stickers anymore. All warranty repairs are in the OASIS system. If it was programmed at the factory then there is no need for a modification sticker.

Then you should be getting a letter soon from Ford, or, if you can't wait, take your car to the dealer and have them check the VIN... if you have less than 7k miles then you'll just need a reprogramming which will take around 30 minutes. Enjoy :)
